It’s never too early to develop a good skincare routine that focuses on cleansing, hydration and anti-aging. I was in my early 30s when I started taking extra care to prevent wrinkles and keep my skin clear. Now that I’m a bit older, I’m glad that I made that choice.
Even now, I’ll switch up my skincare routine now and again. I’m always on the lookout for high-quality products that are safe and effective. Let’s take a look at two beauty brands that offer a large selection of products like serums, treatments, cleansers, moisturizers and more. Introducing: Truly Beauty and Maelys. Which beauty brand is better?
Overview of Truly Beauty
The Truly Beauty brand focuses on three important factors: health, sustainability and performance. While keeping up with all of the current beauty trends, Truly Beauty has come up with very clean and vegan formulas that help you loon and feel your best while keeping your skin healthy. Created by a team of professionals that consults with top physicians, microbiologists and chemists, Truly Beauty sells all kinds of polishes, serums, shaving products, oils and sets that make it easy to develop a good daily routine.
My Experience With Truly Beauty
It was a little overwhelming to pick my products from Truly Beauty. Their selection is so vast, it’s hard to know where to start. I do like that they sell a lot of product sets, which eliminates having to guess which products to use together. Let’s take a look at what I tried:
The Smooth Legend: Complete Collection
I have super sensitive skin, which makes shaving challenging because I need to shave almost every single day. This Smooth Legend set intrigued me because it includes a razor, pre-shave scrub, shave butter, cooka concentrate (to treat and prevent ingrown hairs), cheek-clearing butt polish and even blemish patches. Everything comes in a really cute travel trunk. This set has turned shaving into a self care routine, and I love how my skin feels afterwards.
This is definitely an investment, priced at $226.98 for a one-time purchase. That’s a discount from the originally listed price of $502.20. That price point is why I had to jump on this product.
KP Treatment Routine
When I was in my 30s, I realized that exfoliating was the key to keeping my skin clear. That’s why I became interested in this KP Treatment Routine for resurfacing, hydrating and improving skin texture and pore size.
I loved the Moon Rocks Whipped Body Scrub and the Glass Skin Facial Serum. Those two products combined have helped my skin feel healthy and smooth, despite being in my 40s.
Rainbows in Mirrors Split Ends Treatment
This is a really affordable product from Truly Beauty that has made a huge difference in my hair care routine. Containing argan oil, avocado and vitamin F, I put a few drops of this product on the ends of my hair after I get out of the shower. I let it dry like normal, and my hair looks so much healthier. I’ve gone through two bottles already.
Overview of Maelys
Maelys is a beauty product line that clinically formulates and tests its products on real women with all different skin types and body shapes. The brand was created after noticing mainstream skincare just wasn’t cutting it. Maelys is also very clean, avoiding the use of things like parabens, phthalates and SLS. They’re not completely vegan like Truly Beauty, but they’re still a better option than a lot of the other products that are out there.
There are some bundles available through Maelys, but most of their products are sold individually. They’re pretty affordable too, so you can piece together a routine that works for you. Maelys walks you through their products by area of concern. They have products for cellulite, stretch marks, anti-aging, loose skin and acne.
My Experience With Maelys
I wanted to choose products from Maelys that would be similar to what I was trying from Truly Beauty. Unfortuantely Maelys doesn’t really focus on shaving as much as Truly Beauty does, so I had to skip that category. Let’s look at what I tried:
B-Glossy Smoothing Body Serum
I loved the sound of this B-Glossy product. It’s designed to smooth your skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. I don’t have a ton of those yet, but I feel like I’m starting to show my age a bit. Maelys uses microfluidic technology to include a large number of peptides and more than 12,000 drops of Meadowfoam Oil to help hydrate. It went on a little oily, but it soaked into my skin pretty quickly. I don’t know if it worked for anti-aging, but my skin definitely felt more hydrated.
Tight ‘N’ Right: The Belly and Booty Duo
B-Tight Lift & Firm Booty Mask is formulated to increase the smoothness of your butt area in 28 days, according to the brand’s website. You can pair that product with B-Flat to reduce the appearance of stretch marks and cellulite on your stomach area.
I tried both of these products, which are free of parabens, SLS and phthalates. I like that Maelys uses natural ingredients like caffeine, hydrolyzed elastin, coffee seed extract and cocoa seed butter. I stayed pretty consistent with the use of these products. I’m not sure if there was much of a difference in the booty area, but I think my stomach looked a little firmer and smoother after about a month.
BRIGHT-IT Lifting Eye Cream
As part of my facial skincare routine, I wanted to focus on my eyes. This is an area that has started to develop some slight creases, especially when I smile. I use some other products to keep my skin clear and healthy, but never anything around my eyes. BRIGHT-IT Lifting Eye Cream contains Haloxyl, Eyeliss and arginine to even out skin tone, brighten the complexion, decrease puffiness and more. For me, I noticed that it helped lighten the dark circles around my eyes, but I didn’t see too much of a difference in skin tightness.
Which Beauty Brand is Better? Truly Beauty or Maelys?
I personally look for product brands that are as clean and safe as possible. In this regard, Truly Beauty is the better option. They’re a vegan company that uses a lot of safe and natural ingredients for their products. They have very few ingredients that I would question, whereas Maelys still uses fake fragrances, artificial colors and chemical additives. They use less than some of the bigger name brand beauty companies, however.
There is a better value when you invest in Truly Beauty products. While the price point of what I paid is higher with Truly Beauty, I believe in investing in products that are going to help me look and feel good, but I also want them to be safe.
What kind of beauty products are you looking to add to your collection? For me, I like to keep things relatively basic. I use the same products over and over every day until I decide it’s time to switch things up. Because of that and the fact that my skin is very sensitive, I like to keep things as natural as possible.
Truly Beauty has a lot to offer when it comes to an extensive product lineup. However, their products are also really high-quality and safe (not to mention vegan-friendly). I have enjoyed adding Truly Beauty to my own beauty routine, but their product collections really make amazing gifts for all of the beautiful women in your life. It’s a nice option to purchase products that are going to complement one another when you use them at the same time.
