Every mom wants to provide home-cooked dinners full of nutrients for their kids on a nightly basis.  The reality is, sometimes it is hard to juggle housework, extracurricular activities, and keeping the family fed. The bottom line is, sometimes we all could use a little help.

Recently, kids’ meal delivery services have been all the rave. Various brands offer meal delivery services, but Nurture Life seems to chart the tops continuously. So, what makes Nurture Life so great?

What is Nurture Life?

After we ordered, the box came really fast and in great shape.

Nurture Life was founded in 2015 by Steve Mininisi and Jennifer Chow.

Chow developed Nurture Life to help busy families nourish their children by creating fresh, nutritionally balanced meals without spending countless hours on meal planning.

Nurture Life’s meal delivery service stands out by offering nutrient-dense meals designed by Registered Dietitians for children of all ages.

The meals come pre-packaged in age-appropriate serving sizes and are ready to heat and eat in less than 3 minutes.

All meals come with veggies and are made with whole, fresh foods.

Meals are cooked to order and arrive straight to your door cold but never frozen.

This article reviews Nurture Life, how the meal delivery service works, and pricing options.

What Kinds of Healthy Meals Does Nurture Life Offer?

Nurture life offers a wide variety of kid-friendly, healthy meals for ages ten months to 12 years of age.

Each group will have customized portion sizes based on the particular nutrient needs for each stage as they grow.

Nurture Life offers a wide range of pinchable foods for little ones over ten months old and who are transitioning from puree food.

As your little one continues to thrive and needs larger portions, Nurture Life offers kids meals targeted for children under 12  years old.

You can handpick each meal and filter your meals by the following options: gluten-free, vegetarian, egg-free, soy-free, fish-free, sesame-free, pork-free, milk-free, coconut-free.

If your child is a picky eater, there is also a “picky eater fav” filter.

Finger Foods

nurture life finger foods

A  Nurture Life meal for babies is one designed for those ready to move on from purée baby foods and self-feed.

The company also offers a “Top-Rated Finger Foods” section which includes a mix of customer favorites and acts as a sampler pack-- this is pretty neat if it’s your first time using the service.

Some of the pinchable foods they offer include:

  • Shepherd’s pie
  • Egg bites
  • Fiesta chicken
  • Salmon cakes
  • Meatloaf
  • Mac n Cheese

According to their website, there are always at least 12 options for finger food meals.

Unlike most pre-packaged finger foods, your little one can enjoy Nurture Life’s delicious meals cold. And who doesn’t love the convenience of cold lunches?

What ages are finger foods for?

Finger fed meals are great for babies and toddlers who enjoy using their hands and enjoy smaller portions.

This baby food brand markets its finger meals to those over ten months of age and recommends gradually advancing to kid’s meals by age 2.

Snacks

The snacks Nurture Life offers look pretty tasty. However, it appears to be the same type of snack--they are all called mighty bites.

All five products look the same but have slightly different compositions with different flavors (ex. snickerdoodle mighty bites, chocolate chip mighty bites, oatmeal raisin mighty bites).

Mighty bites have a cookie taste and contain whole grain oats, sunflower seed butter, chickpeas, and dried fruit.

Compared to the high-sugar, high-fat snacks kids usually eat, Mighty Bites are hands down a better choice.

Nurture Life snacks are appropriate for toddlers, kids, and adults.

Kids Foods

I took this image to show everyone the boxing of the food. You can see the Butter Chicken, White Mac & Cheese, Turkey Meatballs and the Pizza Pocket meal.

We know kids can be picky eaters-- this is where Nurture Life comes in with a great idea.

All of the kid’s foods are formulated with tiny taste buds in mind.

As mentioned earlier, Nurture Life even has a filter in the kid’s meals section called “picky-eater approved.”

They offer both cold and hot options to allow for flexibility and on-the-go eating.

Some of the foods you may find on the kids’ menu include:

  • Cheesy Omelette
  • Protein Power Box
  • Chicken Biryani
  • Cheese and Veggie Box
  • BBQ Pulled Pork
  • Mac & Cheese

With kids’ meals, premium options are offered for an upcharge. Some of the options you may find at the premium level include:

  • Homestyle Pot Roast
  • Chicken Parm Bites
  • Teriyaki Salmon
  • Chicken Meatballs
  • Chicken Bites

What ages are kids meals for?

According to their website, kids’ meals are appropriate for a wide range of kids from 1-12 years of age.

They do, however, mention that they find kids’ meals work best for kids aged 4-8 years of age.

Is Nurture Life All Organic?

Most of the food is organic. Nurture Life uses organic products whenever possible and confer with their farmers and purveyors to ensure they use the best quality ingredients. The majority of their veggies and whole grains are organic. They also use antibiotic-free protein sources.

How Does Nurture Life Work?

After the first week, your meals are pre-selected based on your previous meal preferences. You have the option to modify, pause, skip a week, or cancel as long as you complete it before the weekly cut-off date.

What Kids Meal Plans Options Are Available?

kids meals plans available at nurture life

Nurture Life  works by allowing you to order anywhere from 6-15 meals each week. The more meals you order, the more discounts you get.

As a parent, it's cool because you're allowed to choose your own meals. If your children can select meals that appeal to them, it will be more likely they won’t sit in the freezer for months.

They offer allergen-free meal plans as well as vegetarian options.

Are Nurture Life Meals Healthy For Children?

Fact Check ✅

Yes. Each meal contains a whole serving of veggies, and most veggies are crafted into the meal in a way that will not make kids turn their noses up. For example, a meal may contain broccoli, but it is blended in with cheesy pasta, which will be more appealing to a child than plain broccoli on the side.

Each meal is formulated with specific macro and micronutrients to promote healthy development for each age group. Nurture Life meals also contain higher protein and fiber when compared to most other grab-and-go kids meals.

Is Nurture Life Allergen-Free?

For the most part. According to their website, Nurture Life cooks their meals in a facility free of peanuts and tree nuts except for coconuts. Nurture Life may be an excellent option for those with nut allergies.

Nurture Life also has a decent meal selection that does not contain common allergens like egg, milk, wheat, soy, fish, and sesame.

Nurture Life offers gluten-free meals. However, gluten-free meals are produced in the same facility that produces meals with gluten, which can be risky if you have a true gluten allergy.

Who Should Try The Nurture Life Meal Plan

If you have a true gluten allergy, or any other severe food allergies, a Nurture Life subscription may not be the best option for you.

If you are a busy family on the go and simply find difficulty preparing home-cooked, nutritious meals, Nurture Life is a great option. Between the fact that all the meals contain healthy food, including antibiotic free proteins, and that it’s all heat and eat meals, you really can’t go wrong when it comes to feeding your busy family.

Real Nurture Life Reviews: What Are Customers Saying Online?

our real delivery box of nurture life

After reading countless Nurture Life reviews around the internet and consulting with our CEO, Tami, who has personally used this meal delivery service, the overwhelming majority of customers are thoroughly satisfied with the well balanced meals provided by this brand.

Some of the sentiments that were expressed over and over again was that the extensive toddler menu saved parents a major headaches from picky eaters and that planning meals was no longer the struggle that their households had become accustomed to. Furthermore, parents who value feeding their children healthy foods gush over the antibiotic free chicken, the organic produce, and the fact that the meals stay fresh for days in the fridge.

Lastly, ordering and shipping is an absolute breeze. Parents have the flexibility to choose meals based on their children’s dietary preferences and allergies. Plus, boxes are delivered weekly and you can always skip weeks when necessary - meal prep just got a lot easier! Most orders are eligible to receive free shipping, too, which seems to be a big perk for customers.

Of course, there are always a couple of negative reviews with every brand out there. After reading through a few of those, I discovered that, on occasion, Nurture Life delivers meals that haven’t been properly cooled and may pose a health risk. This may or may not be the fault of the brand, but they do their best to insulate their boxes and keep things fresh. If this happens to you, simply contact Nurture Life and they will ship you a new box!

Is Nurture Life Legit for Kids and Toddler Meals?

Proper nutrition is essential for everyone, especially for children under the age of 12. If you choose Nurture Life, you can have peace of mind knowing that your child receives a meal plan with proper nutrition to nourish their body.

In addition, it is pretty neat that you can hand-select your meals. The meals are very appealing to the eye and have excellent customer reviews.

After the kids ate their nurture life meal, I knew it was a #legit brand as my kids are picky eaters. Thanks nurture life!

Final Thoughts: Is Nurture Life Worth It?

Nurture life can be expensive, but the food is extremely high quality. That said, high-quality foods promote satiety and lead to less snacking throughout the day - +1 for Nurture Life on that front!

If you notice, when you snack a lot, it takes longer to feel full--this is because most snack foods are full of empty calories like sugar and refined carbohydrates.

Snacks can get expensive! And when your child is not eating a proper blend of nutrients to feel full, they will continue to eat and then spend less time at the dinner table eating the nutrients they need per meal.

Less snacking will occur with complete meals, leading to less money spent on expensive snacks.

In the long run, you may not actually end up spending that much more on Nurture Life’s meals if you consider the savings on empty-calorie snacks you won’t have to go through every week.

If you have the time to meal plan and prepare your foods, it is more cost-effective to prepare and package your meals.

I am not a huge fan of the snacks offered because they are all pretty similar, and I believe children would get tired of eating the same snack every day.

Lastly, the Nurture Life website does say ages 4-8 is a “sweet spot” for their kids’ meals. I couldn’t agree more with this.

As kids get older, they are likely to be involved in sporting events and are very active. I am not sure if these meals contain enough nutrients to fuel a child that regularly plays soccer or little league football.

Overall, for younger kids, I think Nurture Life is worth it. Especially if you are a busy mom and on the go a lot. Life is so hectic these days, and if you are like me and find it challenging to plan balanced meals, Nurture Life is a great option.
