As a busy mom, entrepreneur, and full-time employee, I often have so much on my mind that sleep evades me some nights. I am well aware of how important sleep is for my body, especially as someone who prioritizes my health and fitness, so the days when I struggle to fall asleep, stay asleep, and get enough sleep really kill my spirit and ability to execute and show up the way I would like to.
I’ve always been a fan of taking melatonin at night to help me get to sleep on occasion, but after hearing that melatonin can be habit-forming and can mess with my body’s natural ability to produce melatonin, I began seeking alternative solutions. I wasn’t necessarily concerned about eliminating melatonin, but rather finding a product that included other ingredients to provide additional benefits.
An ad for Beam Dream came up in my Instagram stories feed and caught my attention. First, it was promoted as a sleep hot chocolate, and I love a good cup of hot chocolate. Second, the ad boasted a 93% success rate. That was all it took for me to bite the bullet, make the purchase, and give Beam Dream a try to see if it would help improve the quality and quantity of my sleep.
I just wrapped up a 3-month period of using Beam Dream (not daily, but frequently) and I am eager to share my review and results with you.
Did Beam’s Dream Powder work for me? Was I able to fall asleep faster, calm my mind, and stay asleep all through the night? Were there any side effects I experienced? I’ll answer all of that and more!
My 90-Day Experience With Beam Dream
I realized when I pulled my near-empty Beam Dream out of the cupboard the other night that I needed to make another purchase soon so that I don’t run out. I also realized that I was coming to the end of my third bag of Beam Dream, which means I have been taking this product for 90 days (actually, more, because I don’t drink it daily).
I decided that I have enough data and intel to share a pretty in-depth experience with you at this point, so let’s dive in. I’ll share more about why I tried it, how I found it, and then a synopsis of what I experienced over the last 90+ days using it.
Why I Tried It
I tried Beam Dream because I had the feeling that my consistent melatonin intake was beginning to affect the way my body responded to it. In short, I felt as though my melatonin gummies, which worked really well for me when I first started taking them, were no longer getting the job done. I wanted to try something different, something more robust.
I was scrolling Instagram stories one evening and an ad came up for Beam Dream powder. I saw that it contained a number of ingredients in addition to melatonin, like hemp, magnesium, and reishi. But the most intriguing part was the fact that it was marketed as a nighttime hot chocolate, I really like the idea of a hot, soothing drink at night.
How I Found It
I found Beam Dream on an Instagram ad that showed up on my stories feed. I immediately swiped up on the ad to learn more about it. It was one of those times when you feel like the algorithm has access to the inside of your brain and it just knew to put a sleep aid product in front of you at the right time.
How I Felt Week-by-week
Before I get into my week-by-week experience with Beam Dream, I want to be upfront about the fact that I did not take Beam Dream every night, nor do I think that should be the goal. I took Beam Dream on the nights when I was feeling stressed, overwhelmed, and/or anxious, as I know from experience that those are the nights when sleep is hard for me to come by. On average, I used Beam Dream 3 nights per week.
Week 1: The Beginning
I started my Beam Dream journey with high hopes and excitement. I was really hoping that the drink was pleasant to drink and tasted good. I wasn't quite sure what to expect as far as initial results, but I certainly did notice that the hot cocoa was a comforting and enjoyable way to wind down in the evening. I have tried it with water and with almond milk, and almond milk (or your milk of choice) is definitely the way to go! It’s super creamy and tasty.
On night 1 I noticed that I felt almost an instant calming sensation followed quickly by a drowsiness. I planned to drink Beam Dream about 30 minutes before I wanted to be in bed but found that I was ready to lie down within about 20 minutes of taking it. It really had me feeling mellowed out and tired.
I fell asleep quickly and easily and only woke once to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, but was able to quickly get back to sleep. In the morning, I didn’t notice any drowsiness or grogginess whatsoever.
During week 1, I only took Beam Dream two times, and both times I experienced the same.
As I entered the second week, I began to notice some additional changes, although subtle. My sleep felt a bit deeper, and I woke up feeling a tad more refreshed. It wasn't a dramatic transformation, but it was encouraging. One thing I knew for sure was that, on the nights when I took Beam Dream, I knew I would be getting a great night of sleep.
By the third week, I could genuinely say that my sleep quality had improved. I found it easier to fall asleep, and my nights seemed more restful. My only complaint would be that I usually would discontinue drinking any fluids so close to bedtime to avoid needing to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, but since I had to take Beam before bed, I always need to get up to pee at least once during the night. That being said, I noticed that I was waking up with a sense of vitality that I hadn't felt in a while, which was great to feel.
As I continued with Beam Dream into the fourth week, I noticed that these positive effects were becoming more consistent and I was beginning to know exactly what to expect on the nights when I took it. The blend of natural sleep ingredients seemed to be working together to help me stay asleep throughout the night and wake up feeling refreshed. Around this week I did note that I had some very strange dreams, I wasn’t sure what to attribute that to, but thought I would mention it in case anyone else experiences that.
By week five, I was looking forward to taking Beam Dream as a soothing part of my nightly routine. Honestly, I found myself wanting to take it nightly but didn’t for fear of becoming too reliant on it. But I loved how I was falling asleep faster, and I couldn't help but appreciate how yummy it tasted as a bedtime treat that didn’t blow my calorie goals for the day since it only contains 15 calories per scoop (plus the calories from the almond milk, which is about 30).
Right around month 2, I realized that Beam Dream not only improved my sleep but also seemed to reduce my stress levels. I was less prone to tossing and turning in bed, and my mind was calmer before bedtime. I also noticed that I wasn’t feeling like I needed to take it as often, but I still kind of craved it because I really enjoyed the taste and the way it seemed to melt away my anxieties.
Into the seventh week, I experienced some personal hardships that really threatened to bring me down. I leaned heavily on Beam Dream this week to help me get to a place where I could allow my mind to rest and drift to sleep. I took Dream Powder more this week, maybe 5 times? It was still feeling really effective for me. I didn’t notice any adaptations. This week was also the start of a new bag of Beam Dream, I decided to try the seasonal Pumpkin Spice flavor and it was so good!
By week eight, I was enjoying deep, restorative sleep on a regular basis. I was back to my normal 2-3 days per week, not necessarily because I thought I needed it, but because I just really enjoyed it. Plus, I felt like my mornings started with a sense of rejuvenation that I hadn't felt in a long time. I was waking up with a spark of excitement that had me leaping out of bed and into my workout without needing a pre-workout supplement. I was also more focused and energized throughout the day.
As I entered the ninth week, I noticed a more consistent sleep pattern. I was going to bed and waking up at the same time each day, and my body seemed to have adjusted to a healthier sleep cycle. Overall, I was in a good flow place and enjoying my routine.
By the tenth week, I couldn't help but feel grateful for discovering Beam Dream. It truly transformed my sleep quality and overall well-being. I continued to use it as a part of my routine with no intention of stopping. I wasn’t noticing anything new or exciting, it was a solid part of my routine at this point.
In the eleventh week, I shared my positive experience with my husband who happened to be going through a stressful time at work. He obviously knew I was using Beam's dream for a couple of months at this point and that I spoke highly of it, but it was during this time that I really nudged him to give it a try for himself.
As I’m just about to wrap up my 90-day experience with Beam Dream, I can honestly say that it’s been really transformative for my sleep routine. After a full 90 days of testing, I know that the nights I drink Beam Dream before bed will be nights that I get the sleep I need and that I will wake up feeling more refreshed and able to handle whatever the days have come for me. My one concern is becoming too reliant on a supplement for sleep. I also know that I really need to work on the areas of my life where I’m feeling stress and anxiety as I would not like to be someone who can’t manage stress on my own.
My Product Rating
Overall, I give Beam Dream a 4.2 / 5. The only reason why I gave it 4.2 stars instead of 5 is because consuming a drink so close to bedtime has me waking up to go to the bathroom consistently, which might happen anyway, but there’s certainly a more demanding sense of urgency when I drink Dream before bed.
Did My Sleep Quality Improve After 90 Days?
Absolutely! In fact, it improved from the very first time I took it.
Did It Improve My Stress Levels?
Yes, when I take Beam Dream, I feel as though my stresses, worries, and anxieties just kind of melt away almost instantly. From a longer-term perspective, I think my stress levels over the last 3 months have decreased slightly which can certainly be a side effect of getting better quality sleep more consistently.
Would I Purchase It Again?
Yes, at this point, I don’t plan to run out as I am still using Beam Dream at least 2-3 nights per week. Next up I am going to try the Chocolate Peanut Butter Flavor!

Other Sleep Aids I Tried
I have tried a number of other sleep aids, some gummies, capsules, and even another sleepy hot chocolate powder. Here’s a quick rundown of what I’ve tried.
iHeart Macros Sleep Collagen - I really like this product from a taste and enjoyment perspective. However, the only sleep component of this product was melatonin. And while I can appreciate the collagen, I already have a collagen powder that I drink with my morning coffee, so it was kind of overkill for me. Currently, this product is sold out.
Ritual Melatonin Capsules - These were a newer try for me right before I started taking Beam Dream. Ritual is a really integral supplement brand, so I felt confident giving their melatonin capsules a try. They worked really well for me, but to be honest, I wish they were gummies!
Troomy Sleep Gummies - I really enjoyed Troomy’s Sleep Gummies which include melatonin and Reishi mushrooms. I got great sleep and they taste great, too. As I’m writing this, I am reminded of how much I liked this product and how I should order it to have on hand for nights when I don’t want to have a drink before bed.
