What’s The Best Supplement For Bloating?

In this article, I'm reviewing 10 of the best-rated bloating supplements. I'm also going to rank them #1 through #10 based on my research, which is based off of studying each bloating supplement's ingredients, reading up on un-biased reviews via amazon and other trustworthy sources, plus I'll use the information that real women in my community speak about when it comes to bloating related supplements. A lot of the women in our Fit Healthy Community used many different supplements for bloating and they are very real, honest. and critical about their experiences, which we really appreciate.

In our Fit Healthy Community, I recently created a poll asking women how often they experience bloating.

The numbers were quite surprising, and revealed that over 90% of women experience bloating. Here's a snap shot of the poll:

bloating poll women - fhm

Poll created on January 7th, 2023 in the Fit Healthy Community Facebook Group.

Reading through all the comments, women experience bloating in a number of different ways, but the most common are:

  • After eating a big meal, or "let me have just one more bite!"
  • Menopause
  • Hormone-related
  • Menstrual cycle
  • Ovulation
  • Certain foods triggering bloating (ie: broccoli)
  • Drinking anything besides water

Some women reported that specific supplements worked, while others said they are still struggling and are open to suggestions.

That's what I want to present to you next - our top-rated supplements for bloating. But, before I do that, I can only recommend that getting your diet and exercise right is one of the most important things you can do right now if you're experiencing bloating.

Then, when you feel like you're on the right track, and you're still experiencing bloating, talk with your doctor and see if a supplement is something they can recommend. There are so many bloating supplements out there that have a high amount of ingredients in them, which can be good or bad. It can be good because one of the many ingredients could mesh well with your body and cause it to work. It can be bad if you're taking other supplements or medication and it doesn't work well with those. ALWAYS consult with your doctor.

The Top 10: Who Made The Cut?

In order to make the cut here at fhm, the bloating supplement has to maintain the following criteria:

  • maintain a 4/5 star rating (we will consistently update this post to meet those standards)
  • have real and verified customer reviews
  • contain ingredients that have clinical studies and trials to support its claims

Let's take a look at the top 10:

Criteria

  • Current rating: 4.7/5 (Official website)
  • # of verified reviews: 108
  • Ingredients: 6 probiotic strains, prebiotics, digestive enzymes, natural herbs

Why we chose it

Unbloat gets the nod for our best bloating supplement because of their formula utilizing specific prebiotic and probiotic strains designed to help the gut break down food efficiently - a major cause of bloating. I also really appreciate brands that focus on one supplement - unbloat only has a supplement for bloating. Every other product on this list are from brands that have multiple products, sometimes spreading themselves too thin and not giving enough energy into making their bloating supplement undeniably great. I believe unbloat has that in place.

What I Like

This is no one-trick pony. Unbloat uses 40 carefully selected ingredients to nourish and support the digestive system. The formula is divided between 21 digestive enzymes, seven key probiotics, six herbal remedies, four essential nutrients, and two probiotic fibers. In reality, the product pays for itself using just the seven probiotics alone! The capsules are easy to swallow.

What I Don't Like

While most formulas have just four to five ingredients, this one has 40! My only concern would be that the high number of herbal ingredients could potentially interact with other medications or supplements that you're taking. Just be sure to do your homework before starting this product!

It costs over $70 for a 30 day supply, unless you subscribe, but then it's $54.99 monthly. We can help with a coupon code for some savings, see below:

lemme debloat gummies

Criteria

  • Current rating: 4.8/5 (Official website)
  • # of verified reviews: 98
  • Ingredients: Prebiotic (XOS), 2 Probiotic Strains

Why we chose it

I chose Lemme Debloat as the best bloating gummies, which can be very convenient for people who have trouble swallowing pills / capsules. They nailed the taste, I've tried them and they taste really yummy.

Lemme Live has a compete supplement line - Lemme Live Kourtney Kardashian supplements. Are they spreading themselves too thin? That remains to be seen, at least they focus on women's wellness.

The LACTOSPORE® (BACILLUS COAGULANS) and DE111® (BACILLUS SUBTILIS) strains were carefully chosen to reduce bloating, aid digestion, support the immune system, and create a healthier gut. I'm also excited to see xylooligosaccharides (XOS) used as prebiotics because research shows that they are effective at lower doses when compared to many other prebiotics.

What I Like

  • I like gummy supplements because they are convenient, as long as they taste good - Lemme DeBloat tasted very good.
  • I like the price - at $30, it's cheaper than many of the supplements on this list. $27 per month if you subscribe - not a bad deal.
  • There aren't too many bloating gummies out there, especially with prebiotics and probiotics.

What I Don't Like

  • It's hard to really know if the probiotic strains survived the heat of making the gummies. That is something that the brand does not address clearly.
  • Lemme DEBLOAT also is very hard to get your hands on because they are constantly selling out.

Criteria

  • Current rating: 4.1/5 (amazon)
  • # of reviews: 721 ratings on amazon (check here)
  • Ingredients: Milk Thistle, Turmeric, Fennel

Why we chose it

A few women in our facebook group have used JSHEALTH Detox and Debloat and it has worked for all of them. So, I decided to take a closer look at them. There are mixed reviews out there on this product, but we believe the rating is as real as it gets because the product is also on amazon, one of the most trusted review sources in my opinion, especially over a brand's website.

What I Like

  • Free shipping when purchasing it at amazon.
  • The price is definitely on the lower end compared to other bloating supplements on this list ($29.99).
  • Real women in our facebook group have attested that it works for them.

What I Don't Like

  • It is a very large pill and could be difficult for people to swallow.
  • The brand makes some very bold claims about getting rid of bloating immediately. It's always hard to say if this is true or not.

#4. klora Vegan Bloat-Digest

Criteria

  • Current rating: 4.9/5 (official website)
  • # of reviews: 47
  • Ingredients: Digestive enzymes

Why we chose it

klora made the top 5 because they are the only bloating supplement on this list that is 3rd-party tested. It's also the best option for those living a vegan lifestyle.

This brand does a heck of a job getting your foot in the door with them as they offer 50% off your first order. After that, though, it's full price on a monthly basis ($39.99).

I don't like klora's "PRO TIP" located underneath the buy now button. Their pro tip is to buy their other supplement "Gut Renew Daily" to add in a prebiotic and postbiotic combination. That's another 2 pills on top of the 2 pills of the Vegan Bloat-Digest supplement. Who wants to take 4 pills everyday?

What I Like

  • I like how klora is 3rd-party tested - this is a big one for me because brands that do it go extra lengths to make sure their product is up to standard.

What I Don't Like

  • I don't like how klora claims "INSTANT bloat relief with our proprietary blend of vegan digestive enzymes*" Yes, that's an asterisk after their claim. The brand also states that it can take up to 30 days to see results - this can be very confusing for consumers.

Criteria

  • Current rating: 5/5 (official website)
  • # of reviews: 1
  • Ingredients: Natural herbs

Why we chose it

Perelel Health Bloat Relief feels like it came straight from an apothecary. I wanted to include this product on my list because I know that not everyone is looking to solve bloating using probiotics. Do you find that you're still bloated even though you eat lots of probiotic-rich and prebiotic-rich foods? This supplement could be what's missing.

perelel bloat relief

What I Like

This product fills in the gaps using supplements that naturally soothe and relieve inflammation throughout the body. I love this as my pick for someone who suspects that stress and inflammation are behind their bloating issues. This is also a good pick if you suspect that bloating is due to hormonal issues. Each capsule contains organic ginger root extract, licorice root extract, fennel seed powder, and peppermint leaf extract.

I also like that this product is third-party tested.

What I Don't Like

While I love the anti-inflammatory qualities of the ingredient list in Perelel Health Bloat Relief, I consider this a product for someone seeking immediate, short-term relief from bloating. It can definitely "calm your tummy" when everything from stress to overindulging at dinner might leave you feeling bloated. However, it doesn't contain the robust probiotics and prebiotics needed for serious long-term gut healing.

hum flatter me for bloat relief

Criteria

  • Current rating: 4.5/5 (official website) 4.1/5 (amazon)
  • # of reviews: 751 on official website, 6,499 ratings on amazon
  • Ingredients: Digestive enzymes

Why we chose it

HUM Flatter Me is the not-so-secret secret that women have been using for years to get flatter tummies instantly. However, it shouldn't be confused for a quick fix. HUM uses key digestive enzymes to tame a bloated, irritated tummy.

What I Like

While the side effect of HUM Flatter Me is a flatter stomach, the actual purpose of this product is better digestion. It helps to reduce bloating using a blend of 18 full-spectrum digestive enzymes that help break down food properly. This formula also uses ginger and peppermint leaf to keep things moving. In addition, fennel seed is added to help support better nutrient absorption.

What I Don't Like

This third-party-tested product may be exactly what you need if your bloating is caused by the fact that your digestive enzymes aren't doing their job fully. However, enzymes are different from probiotics and prebiotics. While the ingredients in HUM Flatter me definitely have some prebiotic qualities that can support gut health, this product can't necessarily help to replenish healthy bacteria levels in your gut.

seed synbiotic for bloating relief

Criteria

  • Current rating: 4.8/5 (official website)
  • # of reviews: 100 reviews
  • Ingredients: Prebiotics, probiotics, postbiotics

Why we chose it

Seed Daily Synbiotic is, in my opinion, the highest quality prebiotic, probiotic and postbiotic (synbiotic) supplement on the market. Their lab testing is unmatched. Seed uses dual capsule delivery technology to protect the prebiotic and probiotic strains in order for them to reach the colon, which is optimal when taking a probiotic supplement.

The reason why Seed is on this list for bloating, is because sometimes bloating can be caused by gut health issues. If you speak with your doctor and that's the case, you'll want to bring up Seed as an option to run it by him / her.

What I Like

  • I like the dual capsule technology used by Seed.
  • I love how much lab testing and third party testing goes on with this product.

What I Don't Like

  • Seed tends to take too many angles with their marketing campaigns. I understand they are trying to push their product out there, but they are portraying to have a solution for almost anything.

ritual synbiotic for bloating

Criteria

  • Current rating: 4.7/5 (official website)
  • # of reviews: 200 reviews
  • Ingredients: Prebiotics, probiotics, postbiotics

Why we chose it

Ritual Synbiotic+ got my attention right away after it entered the market because it's the only formula of its kind to offer a prebiotic, probiotic, and postbiotic. This product uses a postbiotic called tributyrin that has shown lots of promise for healing gut issues in clinical trials. I think it can be a powerful tool for balancing your gut microbiota if you've been on a rocky road with digestive health. I would recommend trying this product to see the difference a postbiotic can make if you haven't been successful with prebiotics and probiotics.

What I Like

While the probiotic strains LGG® & BB-12® do most of the heavy lifting to relieve bloating, they aren't doing all of the work. I love that these strains get a boost by being bookended with prebiotics and postbiotics. Postbiotics finish the job that prebiotics and probiotics start because they are powerful at slowing down the growth of unhealthy bacteria. Research shows that postbiotics may support the immune system, help to stop diarrhea, reduce symptoms of irritable bowel diseases, and reduce some allergies.

What I Don't Like

I'm a big fan of this third-party-tested product made with traceable ingredients. However, I know that some of my clients might be hesitant about the price. Trying a cheaper product containing probiotics alone might solve the issues without the need to pay for a three-in-one product.

flo gummies for bloating

Criteria

  • Current rating: 4.2/5 (official website)
  • # of reviews: 6,000+ reviews
  • Ingredients: Chasteberry, Dong Quai, Vitamin B6, Lemon Blam

Why we chose it

FLO PMS Vitamin Gummies are popular among women seeking to fight the infamous PMS bloat! This product is the best option for those that find out that their bloat is caused by PMS-related issues.

What I Like

I love that FLO Gummies are formulated to provide immediate relief for bloating and discomfort. This formula also helps to elevate mood. In fact, this is the only formula in this genre that's going to pamper you with chasteberry, Dong Quai, vitamin B6, and lemon balm. Dong Quai has been used in traditional medicine as an antispasmodic remedy for relieving cramps. Lemon balm and B6 are also great for naturally relieving cramps. Chasteberry works like magic against acne and mood swings.

What I Don't Like

While I think FLO is honestly the PMS rescue we all need, I do want to make it clear that this isn't necessarily a product for digestive health. It relieves bloating using herbal medicine instead of addressing underlying imbalances within the gut. I might recommend taking this product in conjunction with a probiotic for optimal results.

bye bye bloating supplement

Criteria

  • Current rating: 4.1/5 (amazon)
  • # of reviews: 7,000+ reviews
  • Ingredients: Digestive Enzymes, Fenugreek, Dandelion

Why we chose it

Like some of the other products featured on my review list, Love Wellness Bye Bye Bloat solves bloating using digestive enzymes instead of probiotics. This specific formula uses a two-pronged approach to healing bloating that focuses on both healthy digestion and hormonal support.

What I Like

Love Wellness Bye Bye Bloat does a great job of providing fast relief for food-related discomfort. A combination of digestive enzymes, organic fennel, dandelion root, and fenugreek helps to heal and soothe the gut in real time. I also love how affordable this supplement can be! The price is below $20 per bottle when you sign up for a subscription.

What I Don't Like

I appreciate that the digestive enzymes in this formula are powerful enough to help break up fats, carbs, and protein. While this will provide some relief from bloating and discomfort, it won't necessarily solve issues tied to bacterial overgrowth in the gut. You might still need to take a probiotic to get full gut support.

What Could be Causing Your Bloat?

The most common causes of bloating in women is excess intestinal gas. However, excess gas can be caused by a variety of sources. Lack of fiber, constipation, poor digestion, and an unbalanced gut microbiome are often behind chronic bloating. The simple answer for why you're bloated could be that something is missing from your diet. I also want to point out that bloating can sometimes be caused by a serious underlying condition within your digestive system. It's always smart to talk to your doctor if you're living with bloating that is accompanied by sharp pain, chronic constipation, bleeding, vomiting, dizziness, and other worrying symptoms.

How Can You Prevent Bloating?

A balanced diet that features plenty of fiber and consistent body movement (fitness) are the best natural ways to stop bloating. In addition to promoting regularity, fiber nourishes the gut. However, diet alone may not be enough to reverse course if your bloating is caused by an imbalance in gut bacteria. Stress, illness, and antibiotic use can all "kill" the healthy bacteria keeping our digestive systems running smoothly. When this happens, bad bacteria will overtake the gut. Probiotics and prebiotic fibers can help to restore balance.

FAQs

Let's take a minute to go over the frequently asked questions I get on a nearly daily basis from clients in my work as a nutritionist.

What supplement gets rid of bloating?

It's really hard to say if any supplements get rid of bloating. However, if you pair a bloating-specific supplement with an exercise program and a healthy diet, you could improve your chances of it working. Prebiotics and probiotics can also help, if your underlying cause of bloating resides in your gut microbiome. Speak with your doctor to try to get to the bottom of it before taking a supplement.

Do anti-bloating pills work?

Anti-bloating pills may or may not work. It all depends on the person and why they're feeling the bloat in the first place. It also depends on how healthy of a lifestyle you are living. The healthier the lifestyle, the higher the chance of a bloating supplement working.

Does drinking water help with bloating?

Drinking enough water could help to reduce bloat by helping you not overeat and by minimizing the body of too much sodium.

My Recommendation

The first thing I always recommend to anyone asking me about how to relieve bloating is to commit to eating healthy and exercising daily. After you put those habits in place, then re-assess how you're feeling and if you even experience the bloat anymore. Then, you can talk to your doctor about next steps and see if a supplement for bloating is the best option for you.
